How Does a Power User Receive Data Source Permissions and Privileges (obsolete after Release 5.1)

Power Users receive explicitly Data Source use or Edit access from an Admin on the User Editor or inherit them from a Group to which the Power User is assigned as follows:

All new Power Users receive automatic Privileges to Create Content from non-configurable Data Sources:

  1. External Process
  2. Aggregate a Metric

Optionally, Power Users are granted from an Admin via the User Editor and/or inherits them from a Group to which the Power User is assigned:

  1. Privileges to use non-configurable Data Sources:
    1. Manual/CSV Data
    2. Existing Reports - SQL,
    3. Single Existing Report
    4. Existing Metrics
    5. Datasets
    6. Existing Datasets - SQL
  2. One or both configurable Data Source Privileges:
    1. "Create Data Sources" (and grant Data Source access to Groups to which it belongs or Power User members of those Groups)
      1. With this Privilege, a Power User may use and Edit any Data Source that he/she created or to which an Admin grants Edit Access on the Data Source Editor
    2. "Allow Power Users to grant Data Source access to any User or Group"

Power Users obtain permission to Use a Data Source to create elements, Datasets, Dimensions and Event Calendars in the following ways:

  1. On a Data Source Editor, an Admin grants Use Access
  2. Automatically granted when user receives explicitly Edit Access to an individual element with a configurable Data Source
  3. Automatically granted when user is explicitly granted Edit Access to a Dimension with a configurable Data Source
  4. Automatically granted when user is explicitly granted Edit Access to a Dataset with a configurable Data Source
  5. Automatically granted when user is explicitly granted Edit Access to a Category with elements created using configurable Data Sources
    1. If a Power User inherits, from a Group, Edit Access to a Category with elements created using configurable Data Sources, there is no automatic granting of the associated Data Sources
  6. Automatically granted when user is explicitly granted Edit Access to an Event Calendar created using a configurable Data Source

A Power User can only create a new element or object using a Data Source for which he/she has "use" Permission.

  1. Create Data Sources allows the Power User to both create and edit new Data Sources and to be granted Edit Access to a Data Source created by another Admin or Power User
  2. A Power User may only receive the Privilege ""Allow Power Users to grant Data Source access to any User or Group" if he/she already has the Privilege "Create Data Sources"
  3. "Create Content using...." Privileges are available for Non-Configurable Data Sources, except the two granted automatically to all Power Users:
    1. External Process
